RETRO THINC at ICFF 2026: Our First Appearance in New York

May 20, 2026

Introducing our contemporary lava lamps to an international audience.

In May 2026, RETRO THINC participated in ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in New York for the first time.

For the brand, it marked more than an exhibition.

It marked our first public presentation in the United States.

Over the course of several days, we introduced the Sublime series, the Orbs series, and the Trombone Candle Warmer Lamp to an audience of designers, retailers, architects, collectors, and media from around the world.

The booth itself followed a simple principle.

Let the objects speak.

Using a modular metal display system, we arranged lamps of different heights and proportions throughout the space. Floor lamps, table lamps, and candle warmer lamps were presented together, creating a landscape of light, color, and movement.

Rather than separating products by category, we chose to present them as a family of objects connected by shared ideas: material honesty, physical movement, and timeless forms.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors encountered RETRO THINC from many different perspectives.

Some were drawn to the flowing wax and vivid colors.

Others were interested in the craftsmanship behind the glass vessels and hand-spun aluminum components.

Many simply stopped to watch.

That pause felt important.

Because in a world increasingly dominated by screens, the experience of watching a physical process unfold in real time remains surprisingly rare.

Looking back, ICFF was an important milestone for RETRO THINC.

Not because it was our first exhibition.

But because it was our first opportunity to present our work to a truly global audience.

The products traveled from Shanghai to New York.

The ideas traveled even further.

And for the first time, RETRO THINC became part of a larger international conversation about design, craftsmanship, and contemporary living.
